Privacy
The short version: we store what the product needs to work for you, your content is never used to train models or sold, and you can delete any of it — or the whole account — whenever you like.
Your account
Signing in needs an email address and either a one-time code we email you or a password you set. Alongside it we keep the operational records the Service needs: your profile and preferences, your credit balance and transaction history, and your subscription status.
Conversations, files & images
Your chats, the documents and photos you upload, and the images and audio generated for you are stored so the Service can work — history, citations, and memory depend on it. You can delete conversations and documents at any time.
Voice input
When you use the microphone, Quill records your voice while you are recording and sends that recording to our speech-to-text provider to turn it into text. We do not store the recording; only the text reaches your message box, where you can edit or delete it before sending. Your device asks your permission before the microphone is used, and our provider may hold the recording briefly for its own abuse monitoring before discarding it.
Who your content is sent to
To produce an answer, your content goes to the AI provider behind the model you chose (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google), under agreements that do not permit training on your data. When you choose a model served through OpenRouter — GLM, which is hosted by Z.ai — your content goes to OpenRouter and on to Z.ai, under their terms for API use. Some processing runs on our own providers whichever model you pick: an automated safety check on what you send, the text embeddings that make search and memory work, speech-to-text for voice input, and — when you use live web search — your search query, which goes to our search provider.
Your consent
Current versions of the Quill app and website ask for your consent before anything you give them is sent to an AI provider, and name the providers it will go to. We record when you agreed and to which providers; if that list changes, we ask again. You can review or withdraw your consent at any time — in Settings on the web, or on the You tab in the app. Withdrawing stops Quill sending your content to AI providers until you agree again; it does not recall anything already sent.
Memory & personalization
When long-term memory is switched on, Quill asks a model to pick out durable facts about you from your conversations — preferences, context, ongoing goals — and stores them so later chats can use them. You can read and delete everything it has remembered, and deleting your account deletes it too.
Sharing an answer
Quill does not connect to your email, calendar, or file storage, and holds no credentials for any outside account. The share buttons on an answer either copy it to your clipboard or open a prefilled compose window in your own browser — you review and send it yourself, and nothing is transmitted to us in the process.
We send sign-in links and codes, and email about your account. No marketing email without your explicit opt-in. There is nothing to buy in Quill today, so we hold no card or payment details of any kind.
Deleting your data, and what we keep
You can delete individual conversations, documents, and remembered facts inside the app at any time. To close the account entirely — from the app, or from the web without installing it — use Delete your account. Deletion removes your account and everything listed above from our live systems straight away. Copies can persist for a short time in routine encrypted database backups and in the operational logs we keep for security and troubleshooting, and go as those rotate. Beyond that we keep only what the law requires of us, and anonymous totals that cannot be traced back to you.
